A nutrient-rich lentil soup garnished with a few fresh veggies
The soup served in a bowl with fresh greens garnished on the side is a good way to serve lentils, a popular vegetable dish in many parts of Asia.
It also serves as a great side dish for lunch or dinner.
The lentils used in the soup were grown by a local farmer in the village of Chawang, in the western part of Hainan province, according to the news agency Xinhua.
The soup is said to have a nutritional value of about 50 to 60 per cent, Xinhua said.
The news agency said that this was in keeping with a popular diet in rural China.
